Enjoy relaxing on the famous Suwannee River ...stay at the beautiful "River House"
Wash your cares away in the historic Suwannee River while enjoying North Florida as it truly is...serene, laid back, full of country ways and history, yet a short distance away, some of the best music in the world along with great restaurants, shopping, antiques, hiking trails and what everyone is looking for...the good life. The "River House" opened in early 2007, incorporating all the modern day conveniences into the beautiful home next to the fabled Suwannee River . The home, built above flood stage within steps of the tea-colored river Stephen Foster wrote about in his famous song, provides visitors a spectacular view not only from its interior and beautiful back deck that faces the river, but from the dock built right on the river. The tri-level deck provides an opportunity for fishing, snorkeling, diving and swimming (kindly bring your own equipment). A fish cleaning sink and shower with well water are provided on the riverside deck for your convenience. If you prefer, lie in the comfort of genuine Mexican hammocks, listen to the crickets lull you into forgetting the hustle and bustle of the city. Or, you can grill your favorite steak on an outdoor grill next to the river or enjoy an evening campfire around the fire ring. A concrete patio is the perfect place to enjoy your meal with a special picnic table built just for this site. Be lulled into a peaceful state of mind as you sit and watch the river flow on its way to the Gulf of Mexico . Whether you're a water enthusiast, nature lover or couch potato, you'll find something here you will love. Right across the river is The Spirit of Suwannee Music Park where the largest country music jam in the South is held each April. Festival season begins early in the year, taking a break during the summer and getting revved up again in the fall. Some of the biggest stars in the music world perform at the Music Park that's just across the river from the "River House." If it's fiddle, banjo and mandolin playing you like, you'll find the best in the world at the Music Park . Bring your stringed instrument...jam sessions are held every week, and you're invited. At the "River House," there are three bedrooms and two full baths designed to give you maximum comfort. The inviting bedrooms are furnished in traditional furniture, including the master bedroom which has a comfortable king size bed. The second bedroom has a queen size bed, while the third bedroom has twin beds. For those romantic evenings, each bedroom is equipped with dimmer switches. Each bedroom has a beautiful ceiling fan. The house also has a horseshoe pit. Great detail has been given to ensure your maximum comfort during your stay at the "River House." Each bedroom is equipped with a TV and DVD player. The living room is equipped with a 37" TV and a DVD. For cozy evenings, a gas fireplace heats up the living room where you can put your feet up on one of two sofas, cuddle up or stretch out and get comfortable. The well-equipped kitchen and spacious dining room give you a great view, along with the beautiful deck at the back of the house. Convenient stairs at the front and back take you to ground level. A full security system is operational along with a gated entrance. If you get hungry, drive into Live Oak and enjoy breakfast at the famous Dixie Grill where everybody is special and breakfast is an event, lunch is a social gathering and supper (that's what Southern folks call dinner) is by candlelight. If you stop in at lunch or supper, try their homemade pies...they are to die for! Many local attractions await you, including walking and hiking trails, hunting sites, Stephen Foster State Park where one of the oldest and largest folk festivals in the country is held each Memorial Day weekend; The Spirit of Suwannee Music Park which also has canoe and tube rental, a 9-hole golf course, riding stables, restaurant and many, many activities, including planned tours of old time activities in the North Florida area; cave diving; historic areas;a full size golf course just down the road; bowling alley, restaurants, horse shows, fairs, semi-pro car racing, card room gambling, shopping and Wild Adventures.
